Comments:

After graduation, I attended UC Santa Barbara for two years then transferred up to UC Davis. Graduated with a BA in French and went on to complete the Teacher Credentialing Program at UC Davis. There I met my husband of 35 years. We were married in 1974 and moved to Sacramento. He pursued his masters degree at Sac State and I looked for a teaching position. In 1974 there was such a glut of teachers on the market that I settled for a position at an international engineering firm that did business with Iran and hence a need for my knowledge of the French language. When the Shah of Iran was ousted, I landed a job with the State of California. I worked there as an analyst for 30 years until my retirement in 2008. 20 of those years were part-time as I pioneered a job-share arrangement with my employer. My husband continues to work for the State. As a biochemist by education, he manages a toxic waste program for the California Environmental Protection Agency.

Our son, Bryce, was born in 1988. He made it just in time to give us a tax break that year. He currently is a junior at the University of the Pacific in Stockton. He is studying piano at the Music Conservatory and has plans to attend grad school to become a successful entertainment lawyer. He is therefore pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Music Management and a minor in Pre-Law. He enjoys the latest techie stuff and has two websites: crazycatproductions.com and brycemclaughlin.com. I am very proud of his accomplishments and this summer he managed to get published.

Am finding my retirement legs. Have begun some writing. Enjoy my morning yoga and tai chi classes. Have gotten hooked on facebook and spend much time catching up with lost friends and checking in to see what they are doing. Time for reading and gardening. So much to be thankful for!
